Holistic View of PQ Characteristics of Solar PV Driven Voltage Source Converter

This article provides literature review with focus on analysis of the PQ capability curve and power regulation in relation with photovoltaic (PV) driven voltage source converters (VSC). Within scope of PV based generation, concern for constant output active and reactive power, PQ margin limitations and enhanced dynamic performance of power system control are the major objectives. To meet the inverter circuit demands with current power system dynamics, distinguishing PV-based generation from conventional generation (synchronous generators) is required. Analysis of PQ capability curves for power regulation, inverter gains popularity across the global research community, exploration of new control approaches to meet active and reactive power requirements for power system. Research papers feature in this review employ mathematical and optimization techniques, providing exclusive insight into the characteristics of the PQ curve and its governing methodologies.
