The integration of surface texturing and micropolar lubricants in journal bearing design has recently garnered significant attention for improving bearing performance, particularly in high-speed applications. This study investigates the impact of dimple surface and micropolar fluids on the performance of 3-lobed hole-entry hybrid journal bearings. The study employs Eringen’s micropolar fluid model alongside the FEM technique to formulate the governing Reynolds equation and determine the flow and pressure distributions of the lubricant. The results indicate a substantial improvement in load-carrying capacity, reduced friction, and enhanced stiffness and damping coefficients when compared to traditional Newtonian-lubricated smooth journal bearings. These findings provide a foundation for the design of more efficient and stable bearing systems in industrial applications.
